AUDIO, 12 NOVEMBER 1947, WHEN GANDHI ADDRESSED THE NATION ON ALL INDIA RADIO


Il 12 novembre 1947 Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, il "Mahatma" o "Bapu" come è parimenti conosciuto, visitò per la prima e  unica volta gli studi di All India Radio a Delhi. In quei giorni, dopo l'indipendenza dalla Gran Bretagna si stava consumando la drammatica e sangunisa separazione tra hindu e musulmani che portò alla creazione dei nuovi stati India e Pakistan. In occasione della visita il Mahatma parlò in diretta ai rifugiati hindu del Pakistan che a migliaia erano ospitati nel campo profughi di Kurukshetra nello stato indiano di Haryana. Poco più di due mesi dopo, il 30 gennaio 1948 il Mahtma fu assassinato da un estremista hindu a Nuova Delhi. A ricordo di questa visita l'India celebra il 12 novembre il "Public Service Broadcasting Day". Il discorso pronunciato da Gandhi attraverso i microfoni di All India Radio il 12 novembre 1947 rimane uni dei più famosi trasmessi attraverso il mezzo radiofonico e a 70 anni di distanza anche noi vogliamo ricordarlo con questa registrazione integrale messa in rete dall'emittente pubblica indiana che nei giorni scorsi ha ricordato l'evento con programmi e manifestazioni.



On November 12, 1947 Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, the "Mahatma" or "Bapu" as well known, visited for the first and only time the studies of All India Radio in Delhi. In those days, after independence from Britain, the dramatic and sanguinary separation between Hindu and Muslim was consuming, leading to the creation of the new states of India and Pakistan. On the occasion of the visit, the Mahatma spoke directly to Pakistan's Hindu refugees who were thousands of refugees in Kurukshetra refugee camps in the Indian state of Haryana. Just over two months later, on January 30, 1948, Mahtma was assassinated by a Hindu extremist in New Delhi. In memory of this visit, India celebrates the "Public Service Broadcasting Day" on November 12. Gandhi's speech through the All India Radio microphones on November 12, 1947 remains one of the most famous broadcasts through the radio and 70 years away, we also want to remember it with this integral recording networked by the Indian public broadcaster that in the days recently recalled the event with programs and events.
